Across Sydney, NSW and particularly the east coast of Australia, extensive civil work is underway to build the economy and infrastructure for our growing population. This civil work is supporting businesses to grow. With the short lead times, uncertain economic conditions and supply pressures, smart businesses are considering the value, both financial and convenience, in leasing and renting civil specification vehicles over purchasing.
Suitable for a broad range of industries, Southern Cross Truck Rentals (SCTR) offers short-term or long-term rental or lease on a range of civil specification vehicles from 4WD and 2WD Utes, Rigid Crane Trucks, Tippers and more.
This article will describe the benefits of leasing, or renting, vehicles rather than owning your own. We will outline why SCTR should be your first choice for quality tier 1 civil work specification vehicles, finally, we’ll look at the SCTR fleet and relevant features available for civil work.
The Benefits of Leasing Your Vehicles
Why Lease Instead of Buying a Vehicle?
The benefits of leasing or Renting a Vehicle from SCTR for your business include:
Fixed monthly costs to the business,
With spiralling labour and material costs, smart businesses know if they can reduce in-house costs they can refrain from having to pass on such significant costs to their customers. In a tight market any advantage businesses can find to offset increased costs, allows for more leverage against competitors in the sales and tender process.
An owned vehicle is a drain on company finances whenever it is not being used. Loan repayments, insurance, servicing, repairs and maintenance all must be covered while your idle vehicle is earning nothing. When you lease, or rent, our vehicles you have them only when you need them and you only pay while they’re in use. Plus the fixed price means your business can precisely forecast your financial outlay.
SCTR is seeing a significant increase in businesses:
- looking to utilise rental and leasing to allow both a temporary or permanent reprieve to fast-growing in-house costs and maintenance costs to offset rising labour and material costs.
- capitalising on the benefits of selling existing vehicles in a high-value market and leasing temporarily with a long-term plan of returning to a purchased vehicle model once market prices and costs stabilise.
Simplified project planning
A major advantage of leasing or renting works vehicles is scheduling. You can plan future projects without the risk of having no vehicles available when they are needed. The team at SCTR will make sure your vehicle is ready for you on the date agreed.
If you unexpectedly need more vehicles than planned, contact SCTR to arrange additional rentals.
Whether your requirements for a vehicle are for a few days or several months, we can accommodate your needs.
Lease payments may be partly or fully tax-deductible
Where a business rents or leases a vehicle from Southern Cross Truck Rentals, payments may be partly or fully tax deductible. Customers should look into their own circumstances and seek financial advice to determine the value rental and leasing could bring to their overall purchase vs lease costs.
Leased equipment can reduce company debt and increase usable business capital.
With many businesses seeking to increase business capital, leasing is one way to demonstrate a reduction in business costs, introducing the reliability of fixed-price payments for your transport fleet.
The stability of fixed prices provides a clear and tangible expense guaranteeing no financial surprises or costly increases.
Why You Should Lease With SCTR
SCTR has introduced a series of utes, rigids and tippers specifically fitted out to meet Tier 1 civil work specifications and safety requirements. These vehicles are built specifically for customers in civil, construction and infrastructure works.

ANCAP safety ratings…
ANCAP publishes safety ratings for new vehicles available in Australia and New Zealand. These vehicles include sports utility vehicles (SUVs), passenger and light commercial vehicles (LCVs).
ANCAP safety testing is a critical part of vehicle safety in Australia. ANCAP, or the Australian New Car Assessment Program, is responsible for independently testing new vehicles and awarding them a star rating out of five for safety
ANCAP safety testing involves putting new vehicles through a range of crash tests, as well as assessing their safety features and systems. The results of ANCAP safety testing are used by consumers, businesses and the government to help make informed decisions about vehicle safety
Some of the vehicle tests undertaken by ANCAP
ANCAP crash tests simulate a range of real-world crashes to see how well the vehicle performs. The tests include frontal-offset, side-impact and pole crash tests, as well as a pedestrian protection test
ANCAP also assesses vehicles for their safety features and systems. This includes assessing the effectiveness of airbags, stability control, seat belts and child restraints
The results of ANCAP safety testing are made available to the public enabling consumers to make informed decisions about vehicle safety. Businesses and the government also use the results to help make decisions about vehicle procurement
It is important to review the results of ANCAP safety testing before purchasing a new car. ANCAP uses a rating system of 0 (poor) to 5 (safest) stars. A five-star ANCAP safety rating means the vehicle will provide excellent protection in the event of a crash.
All of our utes have a 5-star ANCAP rating. This means you know your safety, and the safety of employees on your work site is assured.
